Did a day trip to see some stuff.
Bath – Lacock – Avebury – Amesbury – Glastonbury – Wells. Lots of buries.
Lacock is a village with an abbey founded in the early 13th century. It cost money to get in so I just drove by and took a picture.
Avebury is a Neolithic (2600 BCE) monument of stone circles in the village of Avebury. Cool thing is it’s in the open so you can touch and feel the stones. And it’s free.
Amesbury is 2 miles away from Stonehenge. Was willing to pay $20 to see this one. You take a bus to the circle, which is right off a main road (dang). Not as huge in size as you would have thought. Still impressive.
Glastonbury. Ended up getting here at dusk. Bohemian little town. It was Sunday so all I could get was a beer (and charge my phone). And in a town known for their festival, I saw some karaoke.
I drove through Wells because I only had directions home from there. It was late so didn’t see the cathedral (c 1175).
